Psalm 91:1 (KJV) “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
The cross is an emblem of hope and restoration, yet many live under its shadow rather than basking in its sunshine. Time is often wasted in worry, consumed by the things that trouble and perplex the soul. Instead of transforming these worries into prayer and supplication, anxiety casts long, oppressive shadows over our days.
But this is not the life God intends for us. He desires that we experience the freedom and peace that come from an intimate relationship with Him. He calls us to fully surrender and trust Him completely.
Psalm 91:1 doesn’t speak of a gloomy shadow of fear and tribulation. On the contrary, it reveals the comforting presence of God a nurturing “shadow” that offers safety and refuge. It is a place where His love and power shield us from life’s fiery assaults.
To “dwell in the secret place” means to experience deep fellowship with God abiding in His love. It’s an intentional choice to seek His presence, prioritize time with Him through prayer, and trust in His sovereignty above all else. When we do this, we cast aside the shadows of worry and step into the glorious sunshine of His abiding presence. His shadow becomes our sanctuary, assuring us of peace, joy, and a life where fear cannot abide.

Where do your thoughts tend to wander? Are you surrounded by the shadows of worry, or resting safely in the secret place of God’s
presence?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your incredible love and for the promise that when we dwell in Your secret place, we abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Forgive us for the times we allow worry and anxiety to consume us, pulling us away from the sunshine of Your presence. We confess that we often live in the shadow of our fears rather than the protective, comforting shadow of Your wings. Today, we choose to turn our worries into prayer. Help us to seek You intentionally, trust You fully, and rest in the safety of Your presence. Amen.
