Persistent Faith

Luke 18 presents a parable Jesus shared with His disciples, continuing the discourse from chapter 17,
where He responded to the Pharisees’ questions about the coming of God’s kingdom. Here, Jesus
urges His followers to always pray and never lose heart. He ends with a sobering question: “When
the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” This highlights the critical need for enduring faith
in the last days.

In these last days, persistent faith is essential so Jesus prepared His disciples ahead of time.
Scripture and prophecy clearly indicate that we are living in the end times. One consistent trend in
prophecy is the coming persecution of God’s children. Just as the early Christians were hated, falsely
accused, and mistreated, believers today will face similar trials. Their faith will be tested beyond
mere belief; they will need to plead with God continually, just as the persistent widow in Jesus’
parable did. Christ assures us that God will hear and vindicate His people. He will give them justice.

This assurance extends beyond persecution. It applies to daily frustrations, personal struggles,
temptations, and tragedies like loss of loved ones, unemployment, broken relationships. These
moments often catch us off guard. The enemy never alerts us before throwing a sudden violent twist
into our lives. It is in these storms that prayer and faith are most needed, even when they are
hardest to practice. Jesus reminds us that these are the very moments when we must cling to God’s
Word and promises, despite how we feel.

Christ is returning, not for those who merely claim faith, but for those who truly trust and take Him
at His word. This calls for pure, persistent faith. May you never cease praying, and may you always
remember: God is a just judge, and He will bring justice to those who wait on Him.

Reflection:

 Am I aware that today’s spiritual climate demands deeper, more persistent faith than ever
before?
 Am I relying solely on my own strength to resist the tide of evil around me?
 Am I willing to fully trust God and take Him at His word?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You, fully aware that I lack the strength to stand against the
devil’s relentless assaults. I humbly ask for the gift of persistent faith, faith in Your word, faith in Your
justice, faith in Your promise that my Savior is coming. Help me to remain steadfast to the very end.
Amen.
