His Plans Are Greater

Isaiah 14:24 KJV “The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:”

Proverbs 19:21 KJV “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Throughout human existence, it is known as a matter of fact that human beings are habitual planners. We plan from the present into the future, sometimes years ahead. Even if you currently have no plans, you have likely made some in the past. These plans range from simple, short-term decisions like when to complete certain tasks or postpone lunch to more complex ones, such as discovering one’s life calling. Complicated plans are often a challenge because when life takes an unexpected turn and we fail to achieve them, we feel hurt. Plans like choosing a course of study or career path sometimes do not come to fruition, and life can begin to feel like a failure. We grieve lost or missed opportunities.

The book of Isaiah 14:24 offers a contrasting perspective: God’s plans will surely come to pass. God does not plan to fail and His plans are always fulfilled according to His purpose. If it is in His plan for you to be a missionary, a pastor, or to serve in any other field, it will come to pass, with your choice and consent. If you’re wondering what plans He has for your life, remember this: His thoughts for you are good and pure. His purpose endures forever. Whatever the Lord has purposed for your life will be and no one can alter it. Proverbs 19:21 confirms this truth: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” This means human plans cannot always be trusted, as we are prone to sinful and short-
sighted thinking.

Jeremiah 17:9 echoes this, stating that “the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.” Knowing this, God made a redemptive plan—a plan the enemy could not foresee. It is a plan that stands forever and cannot be changed: the plan to liberate humanity from the chains of evil. If you are seeking a purposeful life, a life free from anxiety and stress, let go of control and surrender your life to Christ. Allow Him to determine your steps, because He knows best what is good for you.

Reflection
Have you been putting your own plans ahead of God’s plans? Have you allowed your carnal mind to overshadow God’s perfect will? Have you forgotten that God’s plans are to prosper you and not to harm you?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I’ve come to realize that my own plans can fail me and cannot sustain me. I come before You now, acknowledging that following my own way leads only into darkness. I pray, Lord, please take over my life. Let Your will be done in me. May Your purpose for my life prevail. I accept the plan You have for my redemption through Jesus, who died on the cross for me. I pray that His sacrifice gives me the chance to have true and everlasting life. Amen.
